How to Remove Your RAM 1500 Spare Tire
These are the steps to take out the spare tire on your RAM 1500. This is necessary before you attempt to lift the truck.
- Attach the wheel wrench and the extension tube for the jack.
- The tube should be inserted through the hole in the lower tailgate between the bumper and the top, and into the winch tube.
- Turn the wheel wrench handle counterclockwise so that the spare tire is placed on the ground with enough cable slack for you to remove it from the underside of the vehicle
- Once the spare is free, tilt the retainer at one end of the cable so that it can be pulled through the center of your wheel.
To avoid any loose cables getting tangled, always store the spare tire facing down. The winch mechanism can only be used with the extension tube. Any other tools, such as an air wrench, are not recommended.
Voila! You’re done! Now you can install the spare tire, and remove that flat in no more than a few minutes.
