What is Foam Fill?
Foam Fill, a liquid urethane with two components, is injected into the tire via the valve stem. It cures within 24 hours and replaces all the air. Foam Filled tires are able to eliminate flat tires but offer the comfort and performance of pneumatic tires.
What are some of the advantages of Foam Filled Tires?
- They can’t be flattened because there isn’t enough air pressure to let out.
- The tire’s “air pressure” will not change throughout its life.
- They retain about 65% of the shock absorption that a pneumatic tire has — they are softer than regular tires.
- You can reuse your original equipment wheel by removing the foam fill tire, mounting a new tire, and filling it up again.
- You can use any tire you like, regardless of brand, ply rating, tread design, or other factors.
How to Install Foam Fill
- You must remove the mounted tire and wheel from the equipment and bring it to the foam filling shop.
- You must keep the interior of your tire clean and free from liquids such as tire sealant, water, or other liquids.
- Once the foam fill has been injected into the stem of the valve, it is then set to the desired pressure and sealed off.
- For approximately 24 hours, the tire should be flattened while the urethane foam fills cures.
